It all started some seventy years ago with a mouse named Mickey and a man named Walt. This mouse was a rather simple character created by a man who really wanted nothing more than to put a smile on peoples faces. And from that rather humble beginning grew an empire. An empire that was built off the smiles of all who saw this mans magical creations. Through out the years such wonderful stories as Snow White, Pinocchio, Bambi and Cinderella were made larger than life by Walt Disney. Projected on movie screens for both young and old alike to enjoy and cherish. Yet, no actors were were used to tell these stories. Nor were there any extravagant hollywood sets created in lofty sound studios. Instead these endearing characters and glorious scenes were created with paper, pencil, ink and watercolor. ...the magic that is animation art was created. Today the children are all grown. Their youth maybe fading, but, the child within them still lives on. And nothing can bring out those wonderful childhood memories quite like seeing Mickey Mouse, in his sorcerers outfit, conducting the heavens above in Fantasia or watching as the ever angelic Snow White sings her song "Some Day My Prince Will Come". That's where we come in. We at IBEX Galleries sell the very "sole" of that magic that Disney and his talented group of artisans created. For over a decade we have been supplying collectors and dealers alike with the very art work that brought to life those captivating characters and created those special memories. And don't for a minute think that animation art is "Mickey Mouse" stuff. Auction house world wide, including Sotheby's, Christie's and Phillip's have been having animation art sales for going on the past 2 decades. Collectors have paid in excess of a quarter-million-dollars at auction for these highly desirable works of art. And privately, several works have sold in the half-million-dollar range. We specialize in what are know as cel and background setups form early or "vintage" Disney productions. These, for example are the very background paintings, usually done in watercolor, along with the characters painted on clear sheets of celluloid otherwise know as cels. We also deal in finer pencil drawings, layout drawings, concept paintings and Courvoisier setups. Please feel free to check our "Definitions" section for more of a description of these terms. You also may enjoy taking a look at out "Archives" section in which we shows some of the pieces that in the past we've owed and sold. As well as our "At Auction" section that highlights some of the past auction records for such productions as Snow White, Pinocchio and works from early Mickey Mouse cartoons.
