Gouache on trimmed production celluloid
applied to an oil paint production background. Thumper's little
heart, and feet, go pitter patter at the sight of his girlfriend
in this precious cel and background setup. Bambi was Disney's
only feature to ever use oil paint as its dominant background
medium. Watercolor was the normal medium of choice for Disney
and his artists. However, for Bambi, Disney cast aside the detailed
watercolor background styles of Pinocchio and Snow White and
went for a more impressionistic feel done in oil. This piece
was originally setup at Disney for sale through Courvoisier Galleries.
All paint is original and in extraordinarily mint condition.
The cels of these two characters are among the largest ever seen
in a cel and background setup. Matted size 9.5" x 12"
